The primary purpose of Penitentiary Institutions is the reeducation and social reintegration of the convicted.
Being in prison does not mean that we should neglect our rights. As criminal lawyers, our responsibility to the client does not end when we are inside the penitentiary system. It goes beyond that. We must ensure the respect of the client’s most fundamental rights and freedoms both inside and outside prison.
We provide advice on the penitentiary regime and treatment regarding the rights of inmates.
We handle the enforcement of criminal sentences, the filing of appeals against rulings from Courts and Tribunals as well as Penitentiary Surveillance Courts and Penitentiary Administration, the transfer of foreign prisoners, their expulsion from national territory, and we assess the possibility of requesting parole as a way to suspend the execution of the prison sentence.
